Sarah’s Story: There’s no such thing as a typical Food Bank user

We are privileged to share a very local story that highlights the impact of poverty on people just like you and me in the north coast and glens area.

Sarah’s story serves as a powerful reminder that financial hardship knows no bounds. It affects individuals from all walks of life, including those who, like many of us, work hard yet struggle to make ends meet. The stark reality is that even with employment, affording essentials such as food, heating, and fuel can be an uphill battle. Over the years we have learned that there is no typical food bank user and that the people who come to the Hope Centre for help are people just like you and me.

We created this video to tell a story of local people and places so that anyone watching across the north coast can see that there is no judgement or shame in asking for help. When local people are struggling with finances, we want their first thought to be that they know help is here at the Hope Centre.

Sarah's story is just one among many. If you find yourself in a similar position to Sarah and you need support, please get in touch to find out how we can help.

(Sarah is played by an actress and her name has been changed.)
