Vineyard Compassion and the Bannsiders Join Forces this Winter
Vineyard Compassion are proud to support Coleraine Football club as they launch their ‘Coat off your Back’ campaign this winter. The Bannsiders are asking supporters and members of the public to donate a coat or jacket that they aren’t using so they can be given to those who need them.
A collection of the coats/jackets will be made at the game against Crusaders on Friday 9th December.
Project Co-Ordinator, Melanie Gibson said:
“Vineyard Compassion are thrilled to be able to partner with Coleraine Football Club for this collection of adults’ coats. When times are hard it is important for local organisations to pull together to support their local community.
We’ve had a mild autumn but we’re on the cusp of winter and these coats will be needed more than ever. All of the coats that are collected on the night will be delivered to our warehouse where they will be washed and ready to be donated to local people who are struggling to make ends meet, maybe can’t afford to put heating on and don’t even own a coat. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who will donate on the night and assure you that these coats will be well used and much appreciated.”
Speaking about the community initiative, Stevie McCann said:
“Over the last couple of years, Coleraine Football Club has done some sort of initiative to help the local community and those more in need than ourselves,” he added.
“Having spoken to Ricky at Compassion, he said they were short of winter coats, in particular for men, and I also noticed Portadown and Glenavon also held a similar initiative.
“Coleraine fans have been brilliant supporting the local community and this is another means that we showcase that for such a worthy cause.
We kindly ask fans who are attending the game on December 9 to donate any coats they aren’t using and I’m sure if we all look around, then we could find one.”
