Love Christmas Reaches Out to Magilligan

In conjunction with #LoveChristmas we continued our mission to spread kindness this Christmas by gifting bags of kindness to the inmates at Magilligan prison. We think everyone deserves to be remembered at Christmas so these little bags were filled with Christmas sweet treats and personal items to bring some Christmas kindness to Magilligan this year.

This marks another year in our long term partnership with the prison and we were delighted to hear the Prison Governor, Gary Milling speak so highly of the work that we do together;

“Magilligan Prison seeks to improve the lives of everyone in society, by supporting and challenging those in our care to create a better future for themselves. We encourage individuals to improve their self-esteem, their relationship with their family and rethink their place in their community. Just as importantly they need to actively plan how best they can seek to resettle and reintegrate into both.

This restorative approach cannot take place in the isolation of the prison, it needs to be living and evolving process and we count ourselves very fortunate to have such a strong, caring partner in the community assisting us in this work.

Vineyard Compassion and Magilligan have collaborated for many years seeking to promote structured and supportive resettlement pathways to reduce the risk of reoffending and making the North West a safer place to live. Their outreach work starts, unseen by most behind our walls and continues through pre-release testing into final reintegration.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to everyone in Vineyard Compassion for their selfless work and support throughout the year anD wish them a very peaceful and happy Christmas.”

Magilligan Prison Governor Gary Milling

We look forward to continuing this important work together in 2023.
