Unboxing the Socks!

Having dry, cosy socks is something that many of us take for granted. But as the weather draws in this Autumn, sadly we often find that people coming to the Hope Centre on foot have been soaked through. Being able to give someone new, dry socks can sound like a small thing, but can mean so much.

We also find that men coming out of prison have very limited finances and we love being able to offer them basic home comforts for their temporary accommodation, including good quality, hard wearing socks.

That’s why we love partnering with organisations like popular Northern Ireland clothing brand, Outsidein. We receive regular donations from their ‘Wear One, Share One’ scheme. Simply put, Wear One, Share One means that for every item purchased from Outsidein, they donate an additional item to charities like ours.

We've just received a huge box of 400 pairs of Oi socks to replenish our supplies which have just run out. We'll give these socks out through our clothing bank and they'll go to a variety of people - people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness and individuals and families generally struggling with the cost of living.

Right now, we are in the process of unboxing the socks and we can’t wait to see faces light up as we give them away to local people who need them.
